There comes a time in everyone's life, when we see someone moving on with their life, moving to new things, discoveries, schools, college, jobs, work, etc. There comes a time when we eventually have to move on as well.
But then we find ourselves clutching, trying to hold on to the life we always had. We are trying to keep the same routine alive that we lived for the majority of our lives and we wind up feeling scared about this new stage of life that we have no true sure idea of what will happen. We don't know what to expect. And that's what scares us.
In order for us to continue on the journey of life, we need to learn how to move on, we can't stay in our cocoon forever or else we will never learn how to spread out wings and fly.
This is when the idea of perspective and viewpoint has a role in our lives. Remember when we were young and the idea of trying something totally new or discovering that this new sport/game you wanted to master was so exciting and fun? The thought of failing never caused us to blink an eye because we knew we could always try again. And it didn't matter how long it took us. This is the same situation, just the grown-up version.
Unfortunately, it seems that as we get older we start to forget the values we once held so dear and sworn we would never forget as a child in our life. That it was the value the adults around us seem to have been missing and it was the value that made us laugh, have fun, and enjoy our carefree life and made us believe that when we got older, we would be happy, that we won't have the troubles and problems those adults had.
Well, it seems that we have fallen to the same mistake. The mistake of forgetting that sometimes we have to take that chance, that plunge into something new and exciting to learn more about ourselves and about life. If we stayed in our cocoon forever, would we actually stay happy? I don't think so.
I think eventually we look back on that moment in life and wish that we had took that chance because now it feels like we had achieved nothing in life and did nothing that would make us go:
"Wow, that's life"
"This is the moment I want to remember"
"That was a scary time" or "That was so exciting" or "That was amazing"
And "That is something I will never want to forget in my life."
We have to remember that we need to let go of all our doubts, worries, and fear that we seemed to have developed as we grow into adults and just try, discover, and explore new things as we did when we were children. And learn to laugh at our mistakes, but stubbornly trying again no matter what other people say.
I believe this quote is true:
"Don't be afraid to fail, It is when we are falling that we learn how to stand."
